Privacy Policy

Folio is built to need nothing from you. There is no account, no sign-in, and no data collection. Here is exactly what that means.

No personal data collected

Folio does not collect any personal data. You don't create an account, and you never sign in. We don't ask for your name, email, phone number, or any other identifying information to use the app.

Everything stays on your device

All of your learning progress and settings — flashcard history, confidence ratings, reading position, completed books, and preferences — are stored locally on your device only. Nothing is uploaded to Folio's servers (we don't operate any) and Folio does not upload your data to iCloud.

No analytics, tracking, or advertising in the app

The Folio app contains no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising SDKs. We do not measure how you use the app, we do not build a profile of you, and we do not embed any third-party trackers in the app.

This website

This marketing website uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate, anonymous visit statistics (such as page views and approximate region). This applies only to the website, not to the app. You can opt out using your browser settings or an ad/analytics blocker, and we do not use this information to identify you.

Purchases

Purchases and subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Folio never receives or stores your payment information. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

Audio narration

Audiobook narration is public-domain audio fetched from LibriVox and the Internet Archive (archive.org) when you choose to play it. At that moment, your device makes a standard network request to those services to stream or download the audio, just as a web browser would. Those services may receive your device's IP address as part of that request; their handling of it is governed by their own policies. Folio does not receive any information about your listening.

We don't sell or share your data

We do not sell or share any of your personal data — because the app does not collect any in the first place.

Deleting your data

Because everything lives on your device, deleting the app deletes your Folio data with it.

Children

Folio is suitable for all ages. We knowingly collect no data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change this policy, we'll update the effective date above and post the revised version here.
